shadowfireflame: (Sherlock in Molly's lab)

I've seen it now!!!

No spoilers version: saw it, loved it, can't wait for season 4!!!!!!!!!!

Spoilers version:

Loved every bit and thought it was brilliant. :)

I figured out something was up when Mycroft was talking about "the virus in the data," that's when I thought, "Oh, this is Sherlock's mind palace for sure!"

Now I really want to know who's behind the "Did you miss me?" thing--is it Janine [Moriarty]? Does Moriarty have a twin? Is it a collective? And clearly Mary is in on something. And Redbeard looks more and more like "the other one." And the future doesn't look bright for Mycroft.

Those are my quick thoughts.

EDIT: MOLLY. FUCKING. HOOPER.

Ah, basically the other Holmes sibling--Mycroft refers to someone like this as "the other one" in His Last Vow. I'm just saying I think it's possible Redbeard isn't actually a dog but that s/he was someone important to Sherlock and who died in a traumatizing way. Wellthengameover has written a lenghty meta on it at this link that I really like.

Janine could be Moriarty's twin, of course! Just the fact that Sherlock repeatedly says, "It's never twins" makes me think it probably is. :) But it could also be Mary herself.

Too soon for me to have any coherent theories (beyond SQUEEEEEEEEEEE :D:D:D:D!)

YESSS, I am so happy and squeeing. So much Johnlock to love.

Oh yes, right! Got it. Cheers for the link, I hadn't heard that theory; I'll have a read :)

Janine and Moriarty's equally brilliant twin would be excellent. I'd rather it be her than Mary because a) more women on screen is never a bad thing and b) I don't want Mary's loyalties called into question again. Even if she's the good brilliant twin, it'll happen, and that's just sad.

I'm sure we'll have more coherent theories soon! :D

Read the meta link. Have to say, I'm not convinced; this person writes with conviction but the actual points are hinging on assumptions, which are then used as the factual basis for more assuptions. Redbeard and "the other one" appearing in close succession might mean they're connected, on the other hand, there's only so much room in a season to set up the next seson, which is always going to have multiple interconneting storylines. Redbeard could symbolise a lot, including a brother, or be a real dog that was there at the same time as a brother, or lots more. Not to say they can't be right, but to me it seems more like the very solid groundwork for a fanfic than solid speculation for canon. *shrug*

Yay, glad you read it! Only time will tell with these sorts of things, but it's really fun to speculate.

Redbeard could symbolise a lot, including a brother, or be a real dog that was there at the same time as a brother, or lots more.

Yup! At any rate, clearly there's something a bit more to Redbeard than just a cute dog from Sherlock's past. Though he really is very cute! :)

I admit I have a thing for 100%-bad-to-the-bone-evil!Mary as well as good!Mary or morally ambiguous!Mary, but she's such a fun character that I don't mind whichever way it turns out.
