I remember the first time I ever saw the Bean
. It was my first year of college and I took these pictures:

I wrote that the Bean, technically called Cloud Gate, was "this large, smooth, stainless steel bean-shaped thing." But I was strangely fascinated by it, perhaps my imperfect reflection in it or the way it was so smooth and reflective on the outside and so complicated and swirly on the inside. It's still one of my very favorite things about Chicago.
