It's The End of the World As We Know It

...and I'm a little worried because I can't necessarily tell! My dad keeps telling me to keep cash and a survivor pack handy to live through the financial meltdown that the government is covering up with excessively optimistic language--it's not "the recession," it's "the recovery." Is there really a government cover-up? What's going on? I hate it when theoretically one of the best governments on earth is lying to its people. I just wish officials would give it to us straight! Please tell us in plain English what is going on.
