Paranormal Activity
Oct. 28th, 2009 09:20 pmSaw the movie, and wow, did I find it scary! Chilling, I suppose, is a better word. I'm definitely a big fan of the "less is more" movie genre in horror/suspense. Anyway, it's kind of fascinating how much seeing scary films or reading a scary book can affect your response to your environment for hours, days, later. I wasn't nearly as scared in the movie theater as I have been after the movie. Unfortunately for me, the majority of the scary scenes in Paranormal Activity were set in the bedroom, so of course I had major trouble sleeping. I'm also unnaturally aware of weird oddities going on, "bumps in the night," little unexplainable noises, faucets that chose this moment to start leaking. In a way, being terrified of the supernatural makes you very attune to your surroundings. I've noticed things I never would have otherwise: the sound of my computer, the wind against the window, the weird high-pitched noise of a TV that is on but muted. Must be Halloween.
