I'm happy you're happy with it. I was wildly enthusiastic at first but now I've come to realise this may have been because I wanted to be happy out of love for the series.
However...
What didn't work for me in this series was that it shouldn't be termed S3 but The Empty Plot. The writers, except maybe for Stephen Thompson, thought that mixing up a lot of ACD canon references would serve us just fine. They forgot that: a. it's a detective series so each episode should have a tightly written plot b. Sherlock should always be the smartest person in the room c. unless Mycroft is also in the room Hell, I've read a lot of fanfics that had better plots then the stuff we were served here.
Sherlock keeps underestimating people. If he and Mycroft have a mind palace, why shouldn't other people have one as well. That was such a huge disapointment.
Overall the acting was superb, the visuals were stunning (Sherlock's chest indeed), the music was great but without properly gripping stories it all seems a bit of a waste.
Moffat and Gatiss should step down to earth again and get back to the basics.
I want to love this series. The writers shouldn't make it hard for me to do so.
