shadowfireflame: (Sherlock)

OMG, squeeing so hard right now because the brilliant notsosilentwallflower on tumblr/bambionice89 on Youtube has done an extension of her brilliant fem!lock gifs/edits, this time in video form!

I reeeeally love the idea of a female Sherlock (as opposed to just a female John). Female geniuses are awesome, but arrogant female genuises are amazing (and rather rare). You can check out my fem!Sherlock recs list if you’re interested in more.

But this video has pretty much solidified my headcanon for fem!Sherlock (Eva Green—gorgeous, edgy, with that coldness Sherlock can portray) and fem!Moriarty (Ruth Wilson—you remember the psychopath from Luther? I totally predicted she’d make a great Moriarty; she was also the lead in Small Island with none other than Benedict Cumberbatch for a husband).

I’m still not 100% sold on fem!John (Carey Mulligan) or fem!Lestrade (Stana Katic—Beckett on Castle), though I have to admit that Carey Mulligan does have something very John-like about her in her eyes and calm acceptance of the world around her, tinged with a bit of sadness. I can’t help feeling that she and Lestrade should be a bit more weathered, somehow, more like seasoned veterans from dealing with Sherlock. But Steven Fry as Mr. Hudson is inspired.

Please enjoy and go beg the creator for more! <3

I love femlock AU, though I admit in fics I more often like fem!John with male Sherlock. But this cast choices, oh I love them for some time :D And that vid is great!

I think I got into it a bit differently than you, since it's Eva Green that took me a while to accept in the role of Sherlock. (Probably, because I was right after watching Cassino Royale, like literally days after and for the first time in my life I was obsession over a Bond movie, so, well, it was a bit weird for me. XD) However I've loved Carey Mulligan as Joan, I don't even know why, but there is something so very John-ish about her! Every time I write/read fem!John I imagine of Carey Mulligan. :D

I'm not yet 100% sold on the idea of Stana Katic as Lestrade, I don't know why. Maybe I need to get used to it, she just seems, while great at playing a cop obviously, not very Lestrade-ish. I don't know why. I always like young Emma Thompson for Lestrade myself. Especially how she was in the "Judas Kiss". Here, let me show you. (I've made a whole post once, but it's rather bad xD)

Hower, I admit, it's the first time I saw those gifs/pics with Stephen Fry as Mr. Hudson and I am completely and utterly done. This is perfection. :D

Oooh, cool~thanks for letting me know your thoughts. I agree that there is definitely something "so very John-ish" about Carey Mulligan. I don't know, my headcanon fem!John is just a little older, I guess? But I do very much like her.

I'm not as picky on the other characters as I am for Sherlock, though. And I don't think anybody's perfect for fem!Sherlock, but Eva Green's come the closest from what I've seen. I'll have to see Casino Royale again! :)

Young Emma Thompson for Lestrade is pretty neat, too! Thanks for the pics! <3
