Harry/Bill, dubious consent. All right, people; I'd say this fic absolutely epitomizes dubious consent. Which...actually makes it a little creepy. Cybele does warn for coercion and blatant manipulation, after all. But the writing is so absolutely beautiful that you can't help but watch the spiral. The thing that got me was how perfect Harry's characterization was: saying “Wow,” and “Thank you” after a blow-job. Lovely, sneaky piece that really sticks with you. This is my favorite of Cybele's fics.

Harry/Voldemort—kind of, heed warnings. You'll see. I don't want to talk too much about this fic; just know that it's got some beautifully done magic in there, very well written, and once you've finished it you can see how this might actually work. Creepy and awesome, and it’s short so give it a try. Definitely heed the warnings, and please do try not to freak out about the pairing because it's deceptive.

Draco/Charlie, future mpreg. This was...just what I wanted to read. It's so rare that we see Charlie/Draco being done this well—and with the nicely creative mpreg factor added in, too. I love Joan Wilder's take on Draco's emotions, how he feels happy but doesn't want to admit it or it might go away. And Charlie! And Harry and Snape play a big role, as well. "...That we could have our little life with our little child and live happily ever after in Romania with your little dragons"—God, Draco is so in character here! Lots of fun. - Once Beautiful and Brave by
megyal
Draco/Charlie, because I'm a sucker for that pairing, evidently. This is just a short and fun little tale about Draco getting stuck in his Animagus form (which is obviously a dragon) and Charlie rescuing him. I enjoyed how Megyal incorporated the Sectumsempra scars into identifying Draco and how scared he was, even though he's this huge creature. Quote: Draco looked his fill, because this would probably be the last time he'd see someone defend him so fervently, even if they didn't know who he was. Poor baby! But cute and fun story.

Draco/Hermione. Wow. That pretty much covers this. Wartime Hermione/Draco, and how often do we see that? To paraphrase from the story itself, Hermione loves Ron, but Draco keeps her sane. Some of the hottest sex ever, and the carvings into the headboard, and Remus comparing Draco to Sirius and GOD, the last line. This is certainly the best Draco/Hermione fic, I've ever read and one of my all-time favorites, as well.
pir8fancier’s written a ton of other really wonderful fic, too. One that’s recced all the time is her Harry/Draco On One’s Knees. See her masterlist here.

Draco/Millicent. I know, I know, you don't read het and all that. But you should read this. After the war, Draco can become a Potions apprentice or go to Azkaban. Millicent Bulstrode is already there. You should read this because Draco is very in character and very believable. He has a very strong form of post-traumatic stress syndrome here, and it is wondrous to behold. Not just nightmares but most things in his life are affected, to the point where he can hardly face having a wand pointed at him without feeling like he's about to undergo Cruciatus. The scene in the woods is fascinating in this respect. I also really like the connection Draco makes between Myrtle and Millicent. Millicent is nicely Slytherin, too, but also a woman with feelings that have been repeatedly hurt before. There's a bet in Slytherin that Draco will die by the end of sixth year. Draco bets on himself and thinks Crabbe loses the receipt. Actually, Millicent buys it off Crabbe and wins a ton of money. Doesn't that sound like something that could actually happen in Slytherin? Quote: Draco took another sip of his tea, finishing it off as he stared at the woods. The fog was starting to lift, and so did the corners of his mouth. He glanced sideways at Millicent and nudged her shoulder in return. “Fucker.”

Draco/Neville, a favorite of mine. I'll give the author's summary, because it's fantastic: Neville knows that only a complete sop would not only take in a runaway war-criminal, but also let himself be insulted by them day and night. From the first confrontation, where Neville knows Draco is more frightened than he is, this was wonderful. And the little potions Draco makes to contribute! Cute. I love how Neville realizes everyone thinks he hasn't changed, but he knows, and that's enough. And we get to see how much he's changed, too. Well that's because I'm harbouring a runaway war-criminal and keeping him as my sex-slave... Lovely story, short and to the point. - Strange Bedfellows by
casspeach
Draco/Neville. This was delightful; there's no other way I can put it. A hot, plotty, beautifully written mystery beginning with a Draco who's rather down on his luck, a very much in-character Lucius and Narcissa, and a kind and supportive Ginny? Sign me up! I really love how much of Neville's character CassPeach has retained here. He's stronger and more confident from his experiences in the war and with the Carrows, yes, but he's still Neville underneath it all; he's not a super-postwar-hero, at least to himself. He's still slow to anger and clumsy and apologizing all over the place. And wow, did I fall hard for her Draco, mischievous and sexy and too proud to show Neville where he's living. This was a lovely piece; I'm so glad another author has turned her skill to this pairing (too, too neglected, but so fun!). Quote: Neville wasn't fooled. Draco was like most of the beasts, and a few of the books, in Hagrid's Care of Magical Creatures lessons at school: dangerous all the time, but especially when feeling trapped. He'd survived Care of Magical Creatures—although his fourth-year textbook had run off to live in the Forbidden Forest—he could survive Draco. - Theft of Assets, Destruction of Property by
helenish
Draco/Neville, as I am addicted to said pairing. I don't quite believe in this abusive Lucius or that Harry would kill Voldemort during his sixth year, but it doesn't matter. Draco and Neville are fantastic, complicated and distrustful and quiet and awkward and certainly not talking much to each other. I entirely believe in this rather sickly and pathetic Draco who's having difficulty with his magic and has no practical skills in life but tries so hard to be good at something—and is still political in furthering Neville's career—and in this harder, calm, confident Neville who is doing something with his life. I like that Helenish has people thinking Draco is kind of a prude, because I can totally see that being true, or at least Draco pretending it's true, in canon (really, priest's robes?). Draco as sleeping around makes no sense to me in canon. Harry and Ron, and later Hermione, are also great (Ron dropping by “suspiciously near mealtimes”). Quote: “I accept,” Draco says, but it comes out so quietly that he has to say it again before anyone notices. Be sure to read everything of Helen's, by the way, including her very fucked up but very wonderful Neville/Draco, “Reparations.”
- All the Things of the World by
melusinahp
Draco/Regulus, rather dark, warning for blood. Pureblood, Seeker, Death Eater, Black. Oh my God. How on earth have I missed this fic? It's like I've been waiting for exactly this to be written, and
melusinahp's written it so beautifully, so boldly, that it's just perfect. This is exactly what I believe canon Regulus to be like, and Draco is so in character throughout the years. I adore how clever she was with all the parallels between them, up to the very end. I'm not sure Draco could ever be as deliciously brave as Regulus was, but he certainly does his best, and it's wonderful. I loved the "we're not the same anymore" scene, and how Regulus was "urgent and fevered" before doing what he knows he'll have to do and leaving Draco for good. This is a superb piece of art, especially poignant because when they don't have anybody else, at least they have each other. Until they don't. Quote: "We're going to be all right, both of us," said Regulus pushing himself off Draco and swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "We're tainted, not ruined. He hasn't gotten to the root of either of us."
- Coming Up Sometimes For Air by
buckle_berry
Draco/Remus. Remus and Draco work together dismantling mines in the postwar cleanup. The tone of this fic is amazing: melancholy, bittersweet—yes, the war's over, but what have we won? And Draco and Remus don't really help each other to heal so much as cope with still being alive. I also really like Snape's presence. Great fic. Quote: Draco's eyes snap into focus. "What other Pansy is there? For Christ's sake, Lupin. The war wasn't fought solely by Gryffindors." "I'm sorry, I—," but Draco is gone, stalking furiously into the hallway before apparating mid-stride. - The Fields of St. Herve by
arsenicjade
Draco/Remus. Author’s summary: Draco’s a bit down on his luck. I’ll say! He’s a broke—very broke—werewolf scrambling to make ends meet every month (and pay for expensive Wolfsbane). This awesome story features a rather compelling Millicent Bulstrode/Hermione element, a very kind Harry, and a Remus I really believed in. But Draco really steals the show. I can’t say how many times I’ve re-read this one; it’s just brilliant, definitely my favorite of Arsenic’s, and one of my all-time favorites. Wonderful take on the werewolf trope. Quote: There are things Draco sort of wants to ask Remus. Some of them are things he thinks he's probably allowed to ask, like, "What does the transformation feel like after all these years? Does it hurt more?" He doesn't ask that one because he's afraid of the answer. - Worthy Prey by
mousapelli
Draco/Remus. Okay, so it's becoming clear that I'm a little obsessed with Mousapelli's writing. This is a short little fic, basically a PWP, but an interesting take on both characters with power-play elements. And the last line! I laughed out loud. Wonderful. Quote: Remus Lupin loved the chase.
- A Season in Hell by
jain
Draco/Remus/Sirius. Yeah, look at that pairing, right? I haven't seen it done before, but this was phenomenal. Draco is transported to an alternate dimension, which turns out to be Hell, as punishment for not becoming a Death Eater. Remus joins him and actually tutors him in Hell (I can so see that happening!). They find Sirius there and decide to take him back with them. Jain has a fantastic way of presenting very big ideas very succinctly, and it works. This is a masterful—and super-original—creation, and a joy to read.
- The Way We Live Now by

Remus/Severus/Draco, wartime, werewolf!Draco, very humorous and very sexy. To quote the author: “Draco gets bitten by a werewolf, so the Order kidnap him and get Snape and Lupin to look after him and feed him Wolfsbane.” So basically I want to quote this whole story. And I want to say, “Read it because petulant bitchy werewolf!Draco steals the show! No, actually, tolerant eternally amused!Remus steals the show!” But I actually think it’s foul-mouthed, wickedly gleeful!Snape…which lets you know how awesome all three of them are. And how much more awesome they are as Draco adjusts to becoming a werewolf, complete with crazed werewolf lust (and insanely hot sex scenes). Plus, Kingsley Shaklebolt cameos are always wonderful. Quote: Draco had caught Snape, several times already, poisoning the sugar-bowl or disarranging Lupin's collection of music-playing black discs or dyeing the man's underwear pink or other such things. Whatever got you through the day. Lupin cooked spaghetti bolognaise at least once a week, just to watch the faces Snape pulled as he tried to choke it down. This is my life now, Draco thought, a shitty little cottage and some very dubious companions, all for a ready supply of wolfsbane and a slightly extended life-expectancy. And he was going to have to find his own special way to cope. I really, really, really want more of this pairing. You have to join
pornish_pixies to read this story, but seriously, do it!
- The Pizzeria (a Sordid Tale of Destiny, Evil, and Garlic) by
u_scholastica a.k.a. Mad Maudlin
Draco/Ron, humor. After the war, Draco and Blaise recruit Ron to help give their new pizzeria some War Hero status. This story is absolutely hilarious, with some of the best Ron characterization I’ve ever read, and some of the most funny Draco. But they’re not the only ones who’re superb. Mad Maudlin’s grasp on minor characters is wonderful, especially Bill and Harry and Mrs. Weasley—hell, even Fleur is wonderfully in character. And…um, holy shit, there’s plot. Involving hitgoblins and loans, and it’s all just really, really wonderfully written and fun. I really enjoyed this. Just don't read it on an empty stomach; I'm really craving pizza right now (perhaps even octopus pizza...) Quote:"Harry, what kind of wicked plot is Malfoy going to work out of a pizzeria?" Ron asked. "Death by olives? Evil cheese? Garlic toast of wickedness?" - A Soft Spot for Lost Causes by
helenish
Ron/Draco, wartime. Ron rescues Draco from being the Death Eaters' fucktoy, and they deal with the consequences. Like all of Helen's fics, this too is a lovely and wonderful story with tons of sex and a great premise. I don't think I've ever read such a convincing wartime R/D story before. Helen writes beautifully, and I'm entirely in love with her Draco. Also: Without the sex, it was exactly like the tiny apartment he’d shared with Harry their first year out of school, except that Harry had loud fights with his girlfriend at two in the morning and tended to leave pans covered with congealed bacon fat in the sink for weeks. I think this is one of my favorite lines ever. A great read. Also check out her “A Quaint Notion,” a Hogwarts-era Ron/Draco, and her brilliant Neville/Draco “Theft of Assets, Destruction of Property.”

Draco/Sirius. Yeah, it's a rare pairing, but it is done fantastically here in this slightly AU world (Sirius isn't dead). Narcissa's afraid for Draco, so she looks to Sirius for help in saving him from Voldemort. What follows is some of the most in-character Draco ever. Seriously, he tries to seduce his wand from Sirius! And he loves his father. Lots of stories understand that Draco is intelligent, but none get it as right as
gypsyflame does here. He's not so much intelligent as conniving, and it works and is a superb plot device. Sirius is also nicely Sirius, trying to juggle Harry's demands on him as a godfather with Draco's on him as a husband. I also liked the anti-anxiety potions part; typical Lucius, giving them to a five-year-old, and typical Snape, freaking out about it. Lots of fun, a real treat. I’m beginning to see that
gypsyflame is one of my favorite authors for her take on Draco.

Draco/Voldemort, brief Draco/Bellatrix, non-con. Extremely dark, please heed warnings. Draco’s initiation to the Death Eaters requires a lot more of him than he realized. I've really always wanted to read a story that encompassed the full horror of taking the Dark Mark, and having to be submissive to Voldemort in body as well as soul, and here I've found it written perfectly. I absolutely love the details here, like how Voldemort takes a “shining strand” of magic from Draco and how it hurts, and the droit de seigneur—ooh, just chilling. And I can totally see Voldemort doing that. /shudder. This could be canon, and that’s what’s terrifying—no Harry or Snape or anyone there to save the day. - Seven Days in a Sepia Room by
kay_taylor
Draco/Tom Riddle, Lucius/Tom. Beware, this is pretty dark. But it's also beautifully written, dragging you into this world before you realize you've made the journey. The recurring motifs of smoke, color, dinner parties, and reality vs. dreaming are enthralling. I love the image of the glace cherry and the rose Tom picks for Draco. This story will haunt you, but it is unforgettable. Quote: "I want to stay," Draco whispers, and, "No, you don't," Tom says calmly, brushing the hair out of Draco's eyes. "But you will stay, all the same."
- In Loco Parentis by Dolores_Crane
Hermione, with Harry/Hermione and Harry/Snape, rather dark at times. As the Order conspires to take down Voldemort, Hermione finds herself becoming an unwilling pawn, and takes steps to change her fate. Wow. Just. This is the best exploration of Hermione's character I've ever read. And in a fandom that often prizes mpreg, this includes the best defense/exploration of abortion I've ever encountered ANYWHERE: ...the pregnancy had been about to sweep her off into a future that she had no say over. Because, however pretty the pictures of her-with-a-baby had been (her in the market, at the library, at war, her baby always clean and cute and sleeping), they had all been, really, about cutting herself out of her own life. This fic does feature an unusual Snarry. But at the beginning the Snarry is...sinister, almost. Like the Fidelius charm on Harry. Like the wizarding world’s arbitrary laws. Like Dumbledore, who is canon and believable and just horrific. It does get much better later, though, as Hermione works through her feelings. Plus, there’s a bit of Draco in Azkaban, and I adore that. It's going to take me a while to get over the emotions this story roused in me. An absolute must-read. (And do note that there are 3 parts!) - Legerdemain (12,508 words) by
melusinahp
Harry/Draco, Pansy/Draco. Author’s summary: Draco knew Potter would expect him to be grateful. He just hadn't realized how grateful. Oh. My. God. This is one of those amazing mindfuck stories that you have to immediately re-read from the beginning once you get to the end, so great and shocking. Amazing little details, and wonderful characterization of Draco in particular (as always). Warnings for dub-con and sexual coercion. - Minor Arcana series: Declaro, Pervinco, and Consensio by
cursive a.k.a. Isolde
Harry/Draco, Harry/Snape, Draco/Remus, Draco/Snape, other pairings. This is a tricky series to get into, written in many different points of view, but if you bear with it, you'll be hooked in no time, and parts 2 and 3 are just breathtaking. This is a plotty, complicated, compelling story about a wizarding tradition that is like a mentoring relationship but can have sexual ramifications. I'm particularly in love with Draco's portrayal here, but really all the characters—especially the minor ones—are wonderful. Fantastically written and very enjoyable. Also check out Isolde's other fics, particularly her Draco/Snape “Liminal.” (I have another reason to love Isolde, as well, because she writes Draco and Ron in HP Dungeons!) - A Rose is a Rose by
leni_jess
Draco/various Death Eaters, Draco/Bellatrix, heavy element of non-con, torture, extremely dark, genderswitch towards the end. I think
leni_jess is a master of the non-con, which is a strange designation to have, but there it is. Draco, in the clutches of the Death Eaters, displeases Voldemort. Obviously this warrants punishment. HOLY SHIT, this is creepy and disturbing and...yeah, a little hot, too. I rec this mainly because of the relationships presented, which are just fascinating. I absolutely love her take on the relationship between Lucius and Draco, which might just be canon. It feels realistic to me that Lucius would try to spare Draco as much pain as possible, and that Draco would want to make sure his father is kept out of the way of danger, too. Also, I loved the juxtaposition of Rodolphus and Bellatrix; one just trying to get through this horrific situation and the other actively enjoying it and trying to make it worse in a manner of torture that will stick with you. I wanted to know where Narcissa and Snape were, but the story is fine without them, too.
