Wow. Just brilliant. Lowachee weaves an intricate sci-fi universe that mildly reminds me of a kind of high-tech Firefly, complete with interstellar pirates and a geisha system. And Russians, of course. The lead character, Yuri, is stunning and complicated, and the fact that the novel is written in first person is perfect. (Similar to the first half of Ginn Hale's Wicked Gentlemen, where Belimai narrarates, though Cagebird came out first.) I'm tempted to read Burndive or Warchild, but what I really want is more Yuri/Finch, a deliciously slow-building romance, and I don't know that those novels will satisfy the craving, haha.
