A Defense of Jaywalking
I found this interesting article by Tom Vanderbilt about how jaywalking isn't nearly as bad as everyone seems to think and about the hierarchy of cars before people is bad for cities. Although some people are irresponsible jaywalkers, "there are also careful jaywalkers," Vanderbilt writes, "like myself, who frankly find the notion of waiting for a signal when no cars are in sight to be faintly ridiculous and anti-urban."
