Disagreeing with Thoreau
It appears to be a law that you cannot have a deep sympathy with both man and nature. ~Henry David Thoreau, Walden, 1854
I'm not at all convinced of the veracity of this statement by Thoreau. In fact, in Business Ethics, we discuss how without some concern for ethics and morality, a business will tend to not profit--a far cry from the stereotypical "destroy everything!" way that people think businesses operate. It's the same with humans. What is good for nature will generally be good for humans, as I think we are beginning to see, 150 years after Thoreau.
