Listening to President Obama's plan for Afghanistan got me thinking about war and the environment. Apparently "clearing mines is laborious, dangerous, and 30 times the cost of the weapon itself." Imagine you're a little kid just playing in a field in Laos when you take one false step and suddenly your life is over, or you're injured for the rest of your life. Horrific stories with this topic. I wonder if there's such a thing as "doing war ethically"? Probably not.
